I was reading some quotes by non animal owners, about how they feel concerning animal use/ownership. Most believed humans were using animals like horses and dogs and cats to make themselves feel better. They were only doing something good for the animal to satisfy their inner needs.
While I have seen this as a fact, I don’t believe that not owning animals would eliminate the problem of animal cruelty or subjection.
I think animals can make us better humans when we see the status we have compared to theirs and treat them with respect. Having a pet or creature in our care can make us more caring and understanding of things mentally (potentially) weaker than ourselves.
When we elevate animals to the place where they cannot belong to humans, we eliminate an avenue of learning and discipline that is practical and beneficial to society as a whole.
