Flooding

Someone “learns” how to swim, by being thrown in the pool and told to deal with it or just left to their own smarts. They love swimming and will enjoy water the rest of their life. Someone else “learns” to swim by being thrown in the water and told to deal with it or just left to their own smarts. They will swim again but never really enjoy it. Someone else does not learn to swim- they panic and learn to hate water and never want to go in it again. Someone else drowns.

I see horses trained the same way. And everyone wants that first student. The rest live with the consequences.  Vets, farriers, the next owner, other horses- everyone suffers.  Some experiences can not be cured by sweetness, some fears will never be erased.
